10 Nov Do you have visibility of your production assets?
The factory has been loaded with production orders, but there are several questions which you may need to ask. These questions may be: –
- Do you have visibility of how the resources (machines and tools) are being used?
- What if a production order must be moved, is there enough capacity?
- Are there any alternative resources and what’s the impact?
In the first screenshot below, the three production orders on Mixer 01 have been scheduled correctly from looking at the resources, capacity calendars, and required date. The green line at the bottom of the screen is the capacity line and this highlights that there are no capacity issues.
The second screenshot highlights the impact of moving the production order. As a result, the capacity for Mixer 01 is now overloaded (in red).
To resolve this type of issue, SAP Business One highlights the alternative resources. Furthermore, the production order is “dragged” to an alternative resource (Mixer 03) but the time to perform this operation has increased.
Overall, SAP Business One highlights alternative resources to prevent severe impact from moving a production order. SAP Business One offers you an alternative which helps you to balance out the capacity. However, the time to complete the order will increase causing the order to be late.
